This American Kestrel was trying to keep warm on a cold winter's day in Farmington Bay Utah. I enjoyed watching her hunt, she would take off from this perch and grab a small vole, then land on top of a wooden fence post and eat it. She would then come back over to this perch and clean herself up, ready to go again.

She would then go back over to her perch and clean herself up, ready to go again. Kestrels are very small and fast which makes them very challenging to capture an image of taking flight.
